Co. Kildare's 14 Day Covid-19 Incidence Rate Now 5 Cases Below National Average

Just under 3,000 cases of virus reported in 2 week period

Co. Kildare's 14 day Covid-19 has continued to increase, and now stands at 1315.9 cases, per 100,000 of the population.

2,928 infections were recorded in the county, for the 2 week period to midnight on Tuesday.

Nationally, 62,870 people were diagnosed with the virus during the 14 days.

The national incidence rate until midnight on Tuesday, was 1320.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Carlow has the highest rate of Covid-19 in the country at 1,983 cases.

Westmeath is the next highest, at 1,860, followed by Longford.

No county in the country has an incidence rate below 1000 cases.

Yesterday, the first case of the Omicron variant was confirmed in the Republic.
