Clane Community Council To Challenge Permission For A Total Of 475 Homes.

The High Court has granted permission for 2 separate actions.

Clane Community Council is to take separate challenges against two planning permissions granted by An Bord Pleanala for a total of 475 homes in the area.

The High Court yesterday allowed the council to move ahead with a challenge against leave for 333 houses and apartments off the Dublin Road, beside Brooklands housing estate.

Last week, CCC was granted leave to challenge 142 homes on the western side of Millicent Road and southern side of Prosperous Road.

Both housing developments were granted permission by An Bord Pleanala under the strategic housing development mechanism.

It is the council's contention that they amount to over-development.

Padráig McEvoy is an independent councillor on Kildare County Council and is also a member of Clane Community Council.

Speaking to Kildare Today, he says CCC's action is to challenge the protocol's An Bord Pleanala used to make its decisions.

Cllr. McEvoy joined Clem Ryan on Tuesday's edition of the programme.
