Car Stolen Following Leixlip Home Invasion Found Burned Out At GAA Pitch

Gardaí believe entry to the house was gained through the back door after the lock was tampered with.

Gardaí in Leixlip are investigating a burglary at the Beech Park Wood estate, during which a handbag, cash and a car were stolen.

The incident happened sometime between 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 16th, and 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 17th.

When the occupants woke, they discovered their sitting room had been ransacked, and that the keys to their black Peugeot 2008 - registration 151-D-46266 - had been taken.

The car was later found burned out on Tuesday, August 19th at a back pitch in Leixlip GAA club.

It has since been forensically examined.

Gardaí believe entry to the house was gained through the back door after the lock was tampered with.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the stolen car being driven in the area between the 16th and 19th of August, or noticed it parked up, to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01-666-7800.
