Families affected say nothing has been done despite writing to Minister of Education Norma Foley and numerous TDs and councillors

Parents in Sallins are calling for a school bus route to be in put in place for children who are attending Caragh National School due to a shortage of places in Sallins National School.

Facebook page 'NO School Place For Sallins Children And NO Transport' has been set up to highlight the issues parents are facing, due to their children having to travel over 6km to attend school in Caragh.

There are 16 families in Sallins currently affected by this, saying nothing has been done despite writing to Minister of Education Norma Foley and numerous TDs and councillors.

Parents are trying to get Bus Eireann to add a school bus route to reduce the pressure on parents travelling to and from Caragh twice a day, particularly for those with work commitments and children attending other schools.

Speaking on this morning's Kildare Today, parent and admin of the Facebook page Lisa Walsh expressed that having her children not be able attend their local school was devastating enough, and now they cannot get access to a bus service.
