Building Of Childcare Facilities Not Underway In Any Facility Granted Permssion In North Kildare Since 2017.

Building work has not become on childcare facilities in a range of developments granted planning permission in North Kildare since 2017.

Kildare County Council has released the data to Social Democrats Cllr., Nuala Kileen, following her motion before the Celbridge/Leixlip Municipal District.

There are significant waiting lists for childcare facilities in the north of the county.

The permissions for childcare or creche facilities are included in leave for 1,990 homes.

6 relevant permissions have been granted in the region over the last year.

Construction work is underway on 3 of the sites, in Mariaville Maynooth, Crodaun, Celbridge and Barnahll, Leixlip, accounting for a total of 1,284 homes.

Work, however, on the creche/childcare element has not begun.

One of the six applications is for a standalone childcare facility, granted in 2017, in which building has not commenced.

Developers, depending on conditions attached to their planning permission, may break ground between 5 and 10 years after the granting of planning permission.

Building work has not yet begun on two of the sites.
