Billionaire Rejects Meta Owner Mark Zuckerberg’s Offer For Castlemartin Estate In Kilcullen

The 26,000 sq ft mansion, originally built in 1713, has 28 rooms and sits along the River Liffey.

Billionaire John Malone has revealed he turned down an offer from Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg to buy his Irish estate, Castlemartin in Kilcullen.

“He said he’d heard it was one of the most beautiful places in Ireland,” Malone told The Wall Street Journal. “I said, ‘Yeah, probably, but it ain’t for sale.’”

Malone bought the 18th-century Kilcullen estate from Tony O’Reilly in 2014 for around €28 million.

The 26,000 sq ft mansion, originally built in 1713, has 28 rooms and sits along the River Liffey.

It was once rented by the Rolling Stones and hosted Nelson Mandela.

A major landowner in both Ireland and the U.S., Malone said he’s focused on conservation and keeping his 2.2 million acres of land open in perpetuity.
