The Day Care Centre officially closed its doors on March 28th
Following the recent closure of the Allenwood Day Care Centre, Ballyteague GFC has agreed to facilitate the local community by providing an outlet for older locals from this week.
The Centre, which was run by St Vincent de Paul, ceased daily activities immediately after Christmas and all operations, including its meals on wheels service, on Friday, March 28th.
Up to 37 locals, some with dementia, used the service.
Kfm has spoken to numerous locals and relatives of service users since this situation unfolded 15 weeks ago, with many sharing stories of how much the Centre is missed in the area.
Some services are expected to transfer to Kilmeague in June this year, however, an interim solution has now been established.
On Thursday, April 10th, Ballyteague GFC will provide tea and light refreshments from 11am to 2pm one day a week.
The aspiration is that this will be a place where older locals can rekindle their friendships, have a chat, socialise and take part in some activities.
