Gardaí say they are not looking for any other suspect after a woman was attacked with an axe by a man whose body was later found in the Leixlip Reservoir.
Their investigation began yesterday after being called to a house fire in Oaklawn West where a woman was found with serious injuries.
She is still being treated in hospital.
During a follow up search, the body of the man in his 50's was discovered.
It is understood that he was the woman's ex-partner.
The woman managed to flee the house before she was rushed to hospital.
