Athy Playground The Only Kildare Project To Receive National Funding As Part Of €500k Scheme

The funding will go toward upgrading the existing facilities in Athy, with a focus on enhancing accessibility and ensuring more inclusive play opportunities for children of all abilities.

The People's Park In Athy is set for improvements following the announcement of €15,109 in government funding under the 2025 Play and Recreation Capital Funding Scheme.

It is the only project in Kildare selected for support as part of a €500,000 national investment revealed today by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley.

The funding will go toward upgrading the existing facilities in Athy, with a focus on enhancing accessibility and ensuring more inclusive play opportunities for children of all abilities.

As part of the application process, Kildare County Council was required to consult with children and young people in the area and to match at least 25% of the project cost.

The Athy upgrade is one of 28 projects funded across the country this year, and the only one in Kildare to receive support under the scheme.
