Kildare County Council has officially opened its new Machinery Yard and Regional Salt Barn.
The facility, replacing the old Machinery Yard in Newbridge, supports winter maintenance, surface dressing, vehicle hire, plant storage, and various other operations.
The development includes an administration building, a 4-bay workshop, and a 23,000-tonne regional salt barn.
Additional structures have been provided for snow ploughs, gritters, and other equipment.
Sustainable design features such as photovoltaic panels, energy usage monitoring, rainwater harvesting, EV charging, and LED lighting are incorporated.
The project, partly funded by the Department of Transport under Project Ireland 2040, enhances the council’s road maintenance capabilities and commitment to sustainability.
