Acid And Boiling Water Used In "Disturbing" Animal Cruelty Cases In Kildare

Speaking to Kfm, a spokesperson for the group confirmed that the charity's annual operating costs have surged to €300,000 in 2024, reflecting a steady rise in both the volume and severity of cases it responds to.

A series of disturbing animal cruelty cases in Kildare has drawn attention to what local advocates describe as a "growing crisis" in animal welfare.

Among the most disturbing incidents recently reported are the case of a pregnant cat that had boiling water poured over it, and another cat found doused in an acid type substance.

Both animals are now recovering under the care of the Kildare & West Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (KWWSPCA).

In another case, the organisation rescued a cat that had suffered a broken jaw and shoulder and had been left unattended in a coal bunker for several weeks.

The KWWSPCA says the incidents are part of a wider and concerning trend.

Speaking to Kfm, a spokesperson for the group confirmed that the charity's annual operating costs have surged to €300,000 in 2024, reflecting a steady rise in both the volume and severity of cases it responds to.

In response to the mounting pressures, the organisation continues to promote its foster programme, which supports temporary carers with food, bedding, and veterinary expenses.

The KWWSPCA is urging the public to report suspected abuse and consider fostering or supporting local animal welfare efforts.
