It is to debate proposed material alterations to Athy's Development Plan.
A specially convened meeting of Kildare County Council will take place next week.
The elected members of KCC do not usually meet in formal session in August.
However, on Tuesday, councillors will convene to debate 48 motions for material amendment to the Athy Draft Local Area Plan.
The protocol, on its adoption, will guide all forms of growth and development in the town and its hinterland until 2027.
The changes proposed include zoning, infrastructure links, retail supports, water services and roads.
The meeting takes place in Aras Cill Dara on Tuesday at 3pm.
