New figures from the 2022 Census, released by the CSO, show that almost 70% of people in Kildare commute to work in a private car.
65% drive the car themselves, while 4.4% are passengers.
9.6% of commuters use public transport such as bus, train or luas.
Of the top ten towns with the most commuters into Dublin city and suburbs, Celbridge and Leixlip had more than 40% of resident workers commuting into the capital for work.
Kill had the highest percentage of children aged 13 to 18 travelling to school on public transport at 82%.
