30% Of People With Asthma Suffering Allergies Have Not Sought Medical Help.

More than 300,000 people in Ireland have asthma and hayfever.

30 per cent of asthma sufferers have not talked to a health professional about managing their allergies.

That's according to the Asthma Society of Ireland.

As part of our ALK supported hayfever campaign, today we shared the findings of a patient and carer survey, which highlighted that despite experiencing multiple hayfever symptoms, 30% of respondents had not sought advice from their healthcare provider on managing their allergies. pic.twitter.com/oi4cnO7UwC

The organisation says more than 300,000 people in Ireland have asthma and hayfever and that it can affect quality of life.

CEO of the Asthma Society of Ireland , Sarah O'Connor joined Clem Ryan on Tuesday's edition of Kildare Today:

Of those who have been tested for allergies the most common diagnoses were for allergies to pollen (63%) or house dust mites (56%). Over 33% of respondents reported a diagnosis of allergy to pet or animal hair whilst over a fifth had confirmed allergies to certain foods. pic.twitter.com/JVO7GmOQG4
