Taoiseach Micheál Martin will join other EU leaders in Brussels today for the start of a two-day summit.

The main items on the agenda for the European Council meeting are Covid-19, energy prices and trade.

Leaders will discuss booster vaccines, and whether there should be a common position on their use.

Minister for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, says the negotiations over the Northern Ireland protocol are also likely to feature.


Ireland has the highest take-up in the EU, with 92 per cent of adults fully vaccinated against Covid.
