Province of British Columbia received reports of up to 500 sudden & unexpected deaths
Authorities say hundreds of deaths are likely to have been caused by a heatwave across Canada and parts of the US.
A coroner in the Canadian province of British Columbia says her office received reports of nearly 500 "sudden and unexpected" fatalities between Friday and yesterday afternoon.

US officials say more than 60 deaths in Oregon have been tied to the heat, and at least 20 in Washington state.
