Had been accused of copying 2015 track by grime artist Sami Chokri

Ed Sheeran has won his UK High Court copyright case over his song 'Shape Of You'.

The singer and his co-writers - Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid and producer Steve McCutcheon - had been accused of copying part of a track by grime artist Sami Chokri.

British High Court Judge, Mr. Justice Zacaroli, has ruled that any similarities with Chokri's 2015 track 'Oh Why', are not enough to be considered plagiarism.

During the trial, Sheeran gave evidence saying, "he always tried to be completely fair" crediting those who contribute to his music.

The 31 year-old also refuted an allegation that he "borrows" ideas from unknown artists, without acknowledgement.
