British High Court: US Officials Can Expand Basis of Appeal To Extradite Julian Assange On Espionage Charges

Judge ruled in January Assange was at serious risk of suicide

The United States government today increased its efforts to extradite Julian Assange from the UK, on espionage charges.

The British High Court has decided officials can expand the basis of their appeal, against a ruling, not to send the Wikileaks founder to America.

In January Judge Vanessa Baraitser refused to approve his extradition, citing "real risk of suicide."

But, in court today, lawyers convinced judges the psychiatrist report, used in the original case, "misled" Judge Baraitser by not disclosing the true nature of Assange's relationship with his partner.

Mr. Assange is wanted in the US on allegations of a conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defence information.
